So this is the traveling entry about our awesome vacation! The travel part isn't always that fun. We flew on Delta Airlines since they happened to be the cheapest and they flew to Knoxville TN which was a lot closer than Atlanta which was the original plan. We brought lots of new toys and foods for Zoey so she would fly well.
To Knoxville-
We had a layover in Detroit, MI. It was good to be in my home state! Unfortunately, leaving Salt Lake was a problem. We left the gate then they discovered some communication radio wasn't working. I guess that's a big deal so we had to go back to the gate for them to fix it. We're sitting on the plane waiting and waiting. Ok, now it's fixed and they're doing paperwork... Ok... Finally paperwork done. Well since we taxied out there and back it used some fuel and now there's gonna be some weather we're flying through so we need to add some more fuel. Are you kidding me? You couldn't decide we need more fuel WHILE they're fixing the radio thing? So yeah that took another half hour. So we leave like an hour or an hour and a half late from Salt Lake. We had an hour layover in Detroit. Thought that was a good amount of time for a layover but I guess not. Yes, we miss our connection and have to wait like 4 or 5 hours until the next one. We did get dinner vouchers out of it though so free dinner, yay. But totally not worth playing in an airport all day. Zoey was quite the trooper though. She hadn't slept at all on the 4 hour flight but she just kept playing and playing and playing. Until finally John took her for a walk in the stroller and she conked right out. Unfortunately, our new flight was boarding only like 20 or 30 minutes after she fell asleep. That meant we woke her up and she was very sad and grumpy and crying when we got on the plane. She did eventually calm down and it was only and hour flight.
Oh good, she'll fit in the overhead bin. That'll make the flight smoother :P
Climbing on everything she could
Loved pushing her stroller around
All curled up with bird. So cute!
Knoxville TN airport had nice rocking chairs to sit in at the gate
Little chairs for little people and big chairs for big people :)
To home-
Zoey started throwing these tantrums towards the end of our trip and they continued on the planes which wasn't good. She'd just cry and throw herself on the ground. On the hour it took to get to the airport she was just screaming in her carseat. And scratching her face which was not cool. We got on our first flight which went to Atlanta and she threw her fit and then was falling asleep on the floor. We had to wait like a half hour for some reason or another before we could take off. I picked her up off the floor and she was out before we even took off. I think I was out too. It was only an hour flight which was the sad part. I wish she'd fallen asleep on the longer flight. Our next flight was boarding when we got there since we'd been delayed but luckily we hadn't missed it. This was a really long flight and again when we got on the plane she threw her fit. Poor girl was sick of all our traveling. Finally she got calmed down and did pretty well for the rest of the 4 or 5 hour flight. I thought she did well considering. But man is it exhausting trying to keep a 18 month old happy for that long while sitting.
Knoxville airport is really cool. It had these indoor waterfall things right before security. It was very humid in this part of the building
Zoey was fascinated but making me nervous since there was nothing keeping her from falling in except a 3 inch high border.
Same gate we came in at so the chairs again :)
The air conditioning would blow her hair up. She thought it was pretty fun
Who knew I'd get something so funny on video? Ok maybe I'm a little mean but she didn't get hurt.
